Brenda Hurley’s work is divided into four main areas. Landscape, still life, figurative and some portraiture. High key colour and elements of design and texture feature heavily in all Brenda’s work. There is strength and a sense of drama through the use of colour; the work goes beyond the representative and towards the abstract.

Brenda Hurley’s landscape paintings are not just about the mark on the landscape but also about the history and forgotten footsteps, the marks that are left under the soil. A forgotten drovers path that shows up through different colours and shape in the grasses. Old tractor tracks, crop circles, man made marks on the land. Shape, pattern, lost edges and hard edges are tools used through out her work.
